Sorry for no posting last week. The show and a busy mom life, left little time for blogging. As foreshadowed in last week's post, last weeks post would have been a small post because of show week. This week we are making our trek back into NextGen land and I get to share some Dance and Media projects, so I am very excited about that!!
Last week, DAMCOM (Dance and Media Communications) students worked on, finished, and shared their final photostory projects. They got to explore a multitude of photo editing apps and choose from various video/photo story editing apps. Some of their top favorite: Photo Knockout, Snapseed, Color Effect, Photo Editor, Animoto, and iMovie.
Below is a mix of some projects that were showcased in the lobby at Intersection. After their projects, they connected to a Google Form in Google classroom to answer a series of questions called "Artist Reflection" giving feedback on the technology, project, class, and their group.
We then began the journey into Module 2. There we used an app called iBrainstorm that I loved. They were able to have a quick log-in without creating an account, could easily connect with other ipads in the room using the app, and share info in real time. They would create post-it notes on our subject matter and dump them to their partner for comparison and then reflection in the middle. Loved this app and wish we had tried this one during the Adverb dance. The results were easily shared to Google Drive.

The next class we used Google Drive for a continuous writing exercise. We then took the details of our personal story to create a dance phrase.
Today we were supposed to be able to finish our phrase and add spoken text but the weather chose otherwise. A dead car battery, portable evacuations, and an impromptu bad weather drill could have put a complete halt to all planned lessons. And although we couldn't dance and had no projector access, we found a cozy space in the library, accessed our Drives and they used their iPads to follow along with the lesson I present on Slides, including photo and video clips. It takes some time to have the slide show updated for class every day, but today proved so very worth it! Thanks Google!
In other news, this week all performing students were able to watch the video of the show. They used a Google to answer questions as a personal critique of themselves, their class, and the shows. I also loaded their dance production terms that they created on awwapp.com and Lucidchart into Google classroom for study use for their production quiz this week that were taken on Edmodo.
Dance 1 students took did a pre-assessment activity for our new Ballet Unit by playing Kahoot. It was a fun way to show them that they already learned a lot of ballet terms in the jazz unit so that it does not seem completely foreign to them. After that, they watched our ballet history Prezi and took notes in small groups on Padlet. This is a co-taught class (with Paige Harvey) of over 60 students. We have struggled in using the iPads much in this class without creating the "haves" and "have-nots." So this week will we explored the collaborative effort and I think it went really well. We took alot more preparation having groups and iPads preassigned, and even pre-loading the padlets pages and making a Kahoot app to make 60 kids with iPads less
Ballet 1-3 got to use Coach My Video to do part one of the PIE Grant as Ballet and Jazz 4 have already completed where they measure angles of strength and flexibility to plot on a graph and assess progress throughout the year.
